These companies will not slow down behind the scenes. China will not. Donald does not want to. Taiwan and Korea won't. Nobody wants to get left behind. Congress is molasses and Republicans would block anything with teeth, to please Donald. Regulation won't come any time soon. Look how long crypto regulation has taken.
Politicians might sign something weak and call it strong while crossing the aisle to pat one another on the back like they did with those gun safety measures after Uvalde when Matthew brought bloody backpacks and shoes to them.
That said, I think these guys are overestimating our ability to make something that will kill us all or being down the whole Internet. As with everything, a wall will be hit and progress will move more sideways than up. Kill switches at every level will be placed.
I predict scary documentaries next.
