The U.S. Army has approved plans for several companies to build critical minerals processing facilities on military bases as part of the Trump administration’s push to strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce reliance on imports, particularly from China.
According to Bloomberg, REalloys, Titan Mining, Ioneer, and Energy Exploration Technologies have reached agreements with the Pentagon to develop facilities that will process rare earths, graphite, lithium, and boron. The initiative marks a new approach in U.S. efforts to boost critical-mineral production by leveraging military property.
REalloys will build a rare-earth separation plant at Utah’s Tooele Army Depot, with output stored on-site for military use. Titan Mining plans graphite purification facilities in Arkansas and Alabama, while Energy Exploration Technologies will develop a lithium facility. Australia-based Ioneer, the only non-U.S. company in the group, will build a boron processing plant.
