$F starting new business: BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) Ford Energy will deliver " United States -assembled battery energy storage systems for utilities, data centers, and large industrial & commercial customers in the US" The same lithium-ion batteries that power EVs can also be used to store energy from renewable power generation, which helps make solar & wind power-generating assets more reliable Ford plans to deploy "at least 20GW hours annually, w/ first customer deliveries planned for late 2027" Ford has extra battery capacity b/c their EVs are selling well. Ford recorded charges totaling almost $20B in FY25. Energy storage is one way to salvage part of that investment.
