DTCC’s goal is to tokenize real-world assets already held in DTC custody.
• Russell 1000 stocks
• ETFs tracking major indices
• U.S. Treasury bills, notes and bonds
The process is simple:
1. A real asset stays in DTC custody
2. A tokenized version is created
3. That tokenized asset keeps the same ownership rights, investor protections and entitlements
4. It can then move across digital rails
5. DTCC wants this infrastructure to interoperate across multiple chains
This is DTCC trying to bridge traditional finance and digital asset infrastructure at institutional scale.
