$MTPLF when NAV is low, it’s sort of an invitation to buy non bitcoin assets and make investments like the one they are doing. I haven’t worked all of this out in my head. I tend to think the metwplanets of the world trade lower than nav due to reduced liquidity. Anyway just trying to evolve my thinking a bit

$MTPLF In short, the recent relative strength is consistent with the market beginning to price the capital-structure and domestic-credit-engine story rather than pure BTC beta or a change in disclosed holdings. Whether that premium sustains depends on actual further issuance at the targeted rates, progress on listings, and continued ability to grow BTC per share without excessive dilution. For a company based in Japan that has other economic issues with the USA between countries now......

$MTPLF rose 13.4% during the seven days ending August 2 while BTC fell 2.0%, with no newer BTC total disclosed after June 30. That means the stock rerated before the treasury numerator changed. The likely source of optionality is Metaplanet’s financing engine. Its existing MERCURY preferred carries a 4.9% dividend, while management’s roadmap targets 4–6% BTC-backed preferreds and bonds. If Japanese capital accepts those rates, Metaplanet could finance future BTC accumulation far more cheaply than US treasury companies paying double-digit preferred yields. Important distinction: 4–6% remains a roadmap target, not an issued result. The market may be pricing the engine before it has been proven.

$MTPLF’s upside is not just Bitcoin. Metaplanet now holds 43,000 BTC, but it also generated ¥4.7B of revenue from its Bitcoin options business during the first half and ¥11.4B over the last 12 months. That matters while the stock trades around 0.82x mNAV. Selling common here would dilute Bitcoin holdings per share (HPS), so internal income gives Metaplanet another way to fund BTC purchases without waiting for the stock to rerate. The bull case has three engines: 1. BTC recovers. 2. Options income funds more BTC per share. 3. Continued HPS growth helps close the stock’s discount. Metaplanet does not need all three to work at once. If they do, the upside compounds. The revenue figure includes valuation changes as well as premiums and realized results, so cash conversion remains the number to watch.

$MTPLF I think the problem with instruments like this is liquidity. That’s as far as I got.

$MTPLF’s last quarter proves management can grow holdings per share (HPS). It does not prove the same financing playbook works today. From March 31 through June 30, BTC per share increased about 6.4% while the share count increased only 0.6%. The prior capital allocation was productive. But the stock now trades around 0.76x mNAV, with Implied Productivity near -0.38x. Issuing common here would add BTC to the company while reducing BTC owned per existing share. That is the tension: Metaplanet’s execution record remains valuable, but its previously productive common-equity window is currently closed. Past accretion is an achievement, not reusable financing capacity.
