$UI As an example of the terrible sector that UI was in the past quarter, $CMBM had a gross margin of -19.4%. Yes, that's a minus sign! They effectively had a "going out of business sale" selling product at less than cost to clear out their inventory. Ubiquiti had to compete in this awful environment and still made headway. BTW, Cambium said that their inventory should be at pre-pandemic levels by the end of June. They are clearly not focused on growing revenue but trying to get their GM back up while completing their inventory reduction effort.

$cmbm huge miss, lost almost $1, getting for another flat quarter with more losses ! Saying things are more normalized, but that’s a lie. They have nothing to compete with Tarana and they’re wasting their money trying to compete with $UI wave line that is an absolute smash hit, and they’re getting into crowded fiber. None of their lines are doing well, they need to cut their product lines and focus or they will bleed out by next year. Get ready for some BS from management on the call.

$COMM $UI reported Ruckus down 37%, just brutal. Enterprise is getting destroyed. but they "beat" expectations from burning cash. They are hanging on by a thread. If the market doesnt pick up by the next quarter, they are done. A lot of dead cat bounces in Enterprise this quarter, although they didnt have a 45% bounce before earnings like $CMBM I think both are toast and any strength will be faded over the next month. I am worried estimates of $UI are high at 1.67c and 492M for tomorrow. Given everything ive seen and all the marketing expenses for UWC (much of it might be in Q4) and support and shipping costs rising. Im not excited for the GM in Q3 as these analyst. Pray for a beat, but expecting a miss!

@Curioustock @Costales I took a small short position in $CMBM as well.

@Scrat50 I’m holding $UI through earnings, I have even added in the low 100s recently.
I think they have some advantage with UDM/ULTRA/Protect tailwinds to keep revenues stable until the market comes back for APs/switching.
New Unifi Protect updates have also converted many Hikvision/Dahua users. Also $UI operates in SMB which is holding up It’s mostly enterprise I’m bearish on, which is not exactly Ubiquiti, I think if they miss, stock turns green like $EXTR and $CALX did, as both stated this was the worst quarter. I shorted a small amount of $CMBM as the got leveraged in Enterprise and Tarana eating their lunch and they have nothing special due to lack of focus (except government contracts), so I don’t see them recovering like the rest of the cohort. That said, I’m looking for strong (relative to the industry) revenue and a miss on EPS numbers (all the marketing for UWC and obsolete inventory, scaling support, R&D & new hires)

@Costales @TriPragmatist 200% inventory increase across the board while distributers are fully stocked?
All the calls are talking about sell through needing to happen before sell in can start again. Sell in has yet to begin all the while campus/branch/tier 1 telcos/ are all saying they have enough gear in conference calls. These guys all faced shortages at the same time, now they have excess supply at a time of record competition and they’re all guiding for a normalized 2nd half.
But normalized at what level? And with record competition, with record record inventory, and record margins…
Sure some of it is is what you say, but a lot of it is careless greed… when you listen to $cmbm, the ceo is talking about drawing on their revolved this upcoming quarter. I just shorted some $cmbm on this 40% spike.

starting a tiny $CMBM short against $UI long after the 33% bounce from the lows.

@TriPragmatist
The issue with $CMBM it has a lot of government contracts that are kicking in and they can scrape onto survival if they keep getting those they’re quite opaque about them.
CEO is aggressive on discounting, cost cutting and getting inventory out so they can make their supplier agreements. “hoping” to do this without drawing on their credit revolver next quarter.
there could be a bounce due to this, although their core business and their balance sheet is wrecked as they’re getting their lunch eaten by Tarana and Ubiquiti. They just need to appear to survive and the stock could bounce.
It could also be a disaster where they miss and they draw on their revolver and the stock goes to $2 and fades.
Just had a 14% bounce from lows. I’ll need to look more into it.
$EXTR some1 just bought 17k calls on the 12 strike for May this week. Theres a narrative that they are taking share and lowballing guide with better inventory than competitors. I disagree but lots of believers

@TriPragmatist Covid brain… not one CFO stopped to look at competitors inventory builds to see if they should be more prudent! They were all so greedy and shortsighted. They’re all guiding for a better second half of 2024 but citing a more “normalization” of their distribution channels, but they are not mentioning that there competitors have plenty of inventory and everyone wants share and demand is hampered by macro which means even with normalized channels EPS is going to be a disaster. I still see $EXTR going to $5-8 and $cmbm & $COMM going to 0 by next year

@linden $CMBM is screwed; the only just got into fiber and its already crowded, Tarana is taking sales from the 450m product line and on the epmp line theres no backwards compatibility support so the thats gonna tank sales and their "great" 6 Ghz 4625 touted on the calls still don't have FCC certification. Ive spoken to a few WISPs and they are saying that Cambium installations are down because they spread themselves thin and they have nothing thats better than anyone else anymore. So the only thing theyve got going is government contracts. If it wasnt already down 99% and due for a fat short covering I would probably switch my $EXTR puts for $CMBM as I think it goes bust by next january once they draw on their line of credit.

$UI $CALX Calix had a disaster guide for next quarter, they do SAAS/CRM for small operated ISPs/WISPs The basically blame BEAD funding for delaying Networking instal because customers are working on their funding proposal submissions and or are only expanding existing deployments rather than new deployments. I don't know their business very well, if they track the revenue of this space or if Operators save money by avoiding spend with them. Hard to tell, but their Q2 was supposed to show higher growth, last quarter they guided for a recovery by the end of Q2. That did not happen. Thats not good for SP, we knew SP was going to be tough. We'll have to wait for $CMBM and $UI to see actual revenue numbers on may 9th, but I was hoping for some stabilizaiton in Calix revenue to be more optimistic about SP. Hopefully Europe/EM/EA/SA are doing better as Calix only does N. America (USA).

Last night in my video (link below) I identified $CMTL as oversold because it faces significant challenges, as highlighted by recent financial performance and earnings shortfalls. However, strategic contracts and investments offer potential recovery pathways. The anticipation of future earnings announcements and the potential for strategic initiatives to impact financial stability contribute to the perception of CMTL’s stock being oversold, given the mismatch between current valuation and future growth prospects. And today it is up 10%+ :) https://youtu.be/g47hgAEMRwc $VUZI, $CMBM, $ONDS, $AIRG
